Agent Profiles was born out of a need to have a platform where only qualified EAAB compliant Real Estate Agencies and Agents alike can list their profiles, services and sealed property deals. It is an online directory for real estate Agents to be found by their prospective clients in a unique way. Happy Clients can review and rate the estate agents, this will allow the prospective clients to make an informed decision before engaging their services.
...Because the real estate industry involves considerable cash transactions, it is a magnet for scammers and bogus estate agents. It is hectic enough finding a property to buy or lease, it can be especially distressing to lose money to “ estate agents” who rent out properties they do not own, or who rent out a single property to many people, and who sell a non-existent property mostly to International Clients. It is very difficult for the person on the ground to differentiate a bogus estate agent from a real one because some of them even claim to represent established Real Estate Agencies. This being a daily occurrence within the real estate industry, it is a problem that must be dealt with to protect the interests of the public, and those of the bona fide registered agents. This is the driving force behind this platform, our mission is not to advertise properties, it is for the public to get to know their real estate agent and see their track record before engaging their services. The peace of mind and promise that Agent Profiles offers is that you can be rest assured; ALL the real estate agents on this platform are registered with the Estate Agency Affairs Board of South Africa (EAAB).
The Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) was established in 1976 in terms of the Estate Agency Affairs Act 112 of 1976 (‘the Act”), with the mandate to regulate and control certain activities of estate agents in the public interest. The EAAB regulates the estate agency profession through ensuring that all persons carrying out the activities of an estate agent as a service to the public are registered with the EAAB. A Fidelity Fund Certificate, which is to be renewed each year, is issued as evidence of such registration and confirmation that such person is legally entitled to carry out the activities of an estate agent.” (Excerpt from the EAAB website)
We support the EAAB's mandate in such a way that not only do we list compliant estate agents, we also list the estate agent’s fidelity fund certificate number. With this number, you as a client can go to the EAAB website and search for the agent either by name or by number and verify that they are legitimate. You can tell they are legitimate because their profile and qualifications are listed; illegal estate agents have no profile whatsoever on the EAAB website, your search will not return any results. The EAAB site also contains the code of conduct for estate agents, the qualifications estate agents need to have, how and why estate agents need to be registered, it is also a platform for clients to lodge complaints against registered estate agents.
